New £21m health centre to be created

In news which may be welcomed by people seeking UK medical jobs, proposals for a new health centre have been given the go-ahead.
Set to be constructed in East Lothian, the facility will cost £21 million and will provide a number of services, including podiatry, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, Hospital Development reports.
Public health spokesman at East Lothian council Roger Knox said: "The council has had extensive negotiations with Lothian Health about the future health provision across the country and this new centre will provide a range of services for people of all ages, not just from Musselburgh, but also further afield."
Now, plans for the facility will be drawn up before planning permission is sought and, if all goes to plan, it will open in 2011.
Recently, a new medical centre was completed in the West Yorkshire town of Todmorden, Crain's Manchester Business reported.
Covering 40,000 sq ft, the facility cost £6.2 million to construct.
