Cardiac workers celebrate newly refurbished lab

A number of people with cardiac jobs have been celebrating the opening on a newly-refurbished lab.
Costing £800,000, the centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro now contains a range of new hi-tech equipment, This is the Westcountry reports.
While the work was going on, staff members at the hospital - which is run by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust - worked in a temporary modular building.
"The past nine months have been a challenge for all involved, but our multi-disciplinary team consisting of cardiologists, nurses, cardiac technicians and radiographers have risen to the many challenges and continued to provide prompt treatment for our patients," stated manager of the lab Tina Prestwood.
Among the new machines which have been installed is an X-ray device which gives higher quality images and lower radiation doses.
There are also new storage areas allowing for the better housing of specialist equipment, such as catheters and pacemaker equipment.
