Public sector medical jobs "more attractive"

Those seeking UK medical jobs are more likely to find opportunities in the public sector, it has been suggested.
According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, this sector as a whole is performing better than the private sector during the economic downturn.
Public policy advisor Gerwyn Davies noted that higher wages can now be found due to the government's increased borrowing - announced in the recent pre-Budget report.
And with better pay, those taking hospital doctor jobs in the public sector may also be set to benefit from a better pension.
"Above all there are more opportunities and there is no doubt that public sector employment has gone up in the most recent quarter and that's against the background of a big increase in unemployment," said Mr Davies.
The employment rate or people of working age in the UK fell by 0.4 per cent to 74.2 per cent in the months up to October, the Office for National Statistics has found.
