People who need medical attention over the Christmas period - which can be busier than other times of the year - may do well to consult their local pharmacist for advice and information about minor problems, according to the Western Cheshire Primary Care Trust.
The Chester Chronicle reported that the NHS trust has advised those who are not sure about which medical treatment is right for them to contact NHS Direct.
And while local GPs and NHS walk-in centres are also useful places to seek out medical attention and advice, minor problems such as a runny nose, diarrhoea or sore throat can be treated at home under the advice of a pharmacist - which frees up NHS services for those who need more urgent treatment.
This is Gloucestershire reported today (December 18th) that pharmacist Peter Badham, who has pharmacies in five locations in the county, said he is stocking up on cold and flu remedies because the Christmas period is often "an exceptionally busy time".
