Minister visits biomedical research centre

A government minister recently visited a biomedical research centre, it has emerged.
Barbara Follett, the minister for the east of England, met staff at the Babraham Research Campus and Babraham Bioscience Technologies, which was recently granted £300,000 by the East of England Development Agency to revamp its Technology Development Lab.
Described as a regional enterprise hub, Babraham plays a role in promoting and supporting bioscience innovation in the east of England.
With the money it received, it will develop its lab, putting in place a suite of equipment supporting drug discovery, people with biomedical science jobs may be interested to hear.
Ms Follett said: "Babraham is unique in bringing basic biomedical research scientists and commercial biomedical scientists together on the one campus. This has benefits for both the academic and commercial scientists."
Situated six miles south-east of Cambridge, Babraham is a registered charity and is sponsored by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
