Hospital takes action following hygiene report

A Bedfordshire hospital has announced that it has taken action after being criticised in a hygiene inspection.
Luton & Dunstable Hospital (L&D), which is situated on Lewsey Road, was shown to have breached the Healthcare Commission's hygiene code in five areas, Bedford Today reports.
The problems identified by inspectors, who turned up at the centre in an unannounced visit in March, included cleaning, laundry supply and communication between facilities managers and the infection control team.
According to bosses at the medical centre, "swift action" has been taken to address the issues, while a spokesman added that a full action plan has been put in place.
Meanwhile, its chief executive Stephen Ramsden said: "The L&D has an excellent track record in reducing infections. We have one of the lowest rates of C difficile in the east of England and it is over two months since we had any cases of MRSA."
