New mammography equipment to be used in London

A London hospital is to begin using a new piece of mammography equipment, people with radiology jobs may be interested to discover.
King Edward VII's Hospital Sister Agnes is to become the first medical centre in the capital to begin using the Sectra Microdose Digital Mammography unit.
The device is said to reduce the amount of radiation received by patients by half.
It works by a process known as photon counting, which ensures that there is no electrical noise in the image and that scattered radiation is also eliminated.
"With these new arrangements, the hospital's imaging department is well placed to offer a bespoke service to our consultants, general practitioners and their patients," stated Dr Paul Butler, director of imaging at the hospital.
In other news, students in Portsmouth were recently given the opportunity to experience a variety of hospital careers, including those in radiology, during a Step into Science and Healthcare event at St James's Hospital, local paper the News reported.
