Audiology project gets £230k research grant

A project to search for a cure for tinnitus has received a grant of £230,000, people with audiology jobs may be interested to discover.
The British Tinnitus Association (BTA) is to give the money over to finance a three-year post at University College London (UCL) Ear Institute, Medical News Today reports.
Commenting on the development, BTA chairman Roy Bratby said: "At least ten per cent of the adult population in the UK has tinnitus and it can cause great distress to sufferers and their families."
The BTA is committed to finding a cure for the conditions, he went on to say, adding that the new research funding is the "first step" towards realising this aim.
A senior research associate along with a small team of researchers will be working on the project.
An independent charity, the BTA currently employs seven members of staff in Sheffield, as well as a team of volunteers.
It publishes a range of information sheets and booklets relating to the subject.
