New sterile services facility opened

A new facility which cleans and processes surgical equipment has been opened in Staffordshire, it has been revealed.
In news which may be of interest to people seeking sterile services jobs, the centre at University Hospital of North Staffordshire has been increased in size by three times, Stoke and Staffordshire newspaper the Sentinel reports.
The improved sterile supplies department is the first building of the superhospital - which serves a population of half a million - to open.
Benefiting from state-of-the-art equipment which rivals any in Europe, the department has moved with its 117 staff members out of its old location on the City General site, which it had been in for 18 years.
According to the Sentinel, the facility houses a conveyor belt which can process over 1,000 surgical instruments a day and can have used items back in the hands of surgeons and ready for use within five hours.
