Students given insight into radiography careers

Students in Portsmouth were given the opportunity to experience a variety of hospital careers this month, from radiography through to clinical psychology.
Local paper the News reported that approximately 80 15 to 17-year-olds attended the Step into Science and Healthcare event at St James's Hospital.
Aimhigher Hampshire and Isle of Wight funded the occasion, which was designed to give students a taster of the broad range of careers that are available to those interested in seeking employment with the NHS.
The Education and Business Partnership and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust were also involved in the event.
Emma Wright of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust told the Preston Citizen last week that many people are unaware of exactly what radiographers do.
She explained that there is a whole range - from CT workers through to those in nuclear medicine - and stated that her organisation would welcome anyone who would like to come along and find out more about the occupation.
