The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) and the British Medical Association have teamed up to publish a new workbook to help pharmacists and GPs improve their communication.
Gareth Jones of the MPA stated that demand for the workbook has been "exceptionally high", with the central Lancashire local pharmaceutical committee (LPC) named as one group that has already successfully used the communication tool.
"I understand that there are plans for other LPCs to meet with local medical committees for workshops based on its use," he said. "I hope that there will be many more such encouraging results."
Meanwhile, Ian Facer, the chairman of the central Lancashire LPC called the workbook an "ideal" way for GPs and pharmacists to take important initial steps to improve relationships.
Earlier this week, the North Norfolk News reported that government plans which could ban many doctors in the area from dispensing medicines in favour of pharmacies have caused concerns among rural residents in the area.
Some 450 constituents have already contacted the department of health and another petition of several hundred signatures is expected to be delivered to North Norfolk MP Normal Lamb this week.
