DoH appoints new directors to oversee pharmacies

The Department of Health (DoH) has appointed two new national directors with responsibilities to oversee pharmacies in the community and in hospitals, it has emerged.
Jonathan Mason, head of prescribing and pharmacy at City and Hackney Teaching Primary Care Trust, is to take on the role that focuses on primary care and community pharmacy, reports Pharmacy Europe.
Meanwhile, Martin Stephens - who is a director at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust - has been given the position which will see him in control of hospital pharmacy.
Commenting on his selection, he said: "I'm honoured to be appointed in this key clinical leadership role for hospital pharmacy."
He added: "Frontline pharmacy teams and their leaders can make a real difference and I see my role as supporting them in doing that."
In other industry news, in five months' time, people with pharmacy jobs in Wales will begin offering customers a new allergy screening service, Medical News Today recently reported.
