New sterile services facility to be constructed

Plans have just been announced under which a new sterile services facility is to be constructed.
Private hospital group Ramsay Health Care has stated it intends to build a £1.5 million facility to clean its medical instruments in the north-west town of Preston, the Lancashire Evening Post reports.
The facility will service the organisation's hospitals in Ormskirk, Kendal, Salford, Fulwood and Euxton.
Project manager Colin Rea stated: "The hub will be our central processing facility for cleaning, sterilising, repacking and storing all the surgical instruments used in our hospitals and there will be a merry-go-round effect with instruments heading out to our hospitals as more come in."
Ten new sterile services jobs are likely to be created as a result of the development, he added.
Established in 1964, Ramsay Health Care has more than 100 hospitals operating in the UK, Australia and Indonesia.
It provides a range of services, including orthopaedics, cardiac surgery and eye surgery.
