UK hospital fits new cardiac technology

A hospital in Scotland has installed new cardiac technology, it has emerged.
Hairmyres Hospital in Lanarkshire - a facility which houses 415 inpatient beds - is the first medical centre in the UK to begin using the Artis zee units in Scotland, people with cardiac jobs may wish to note.
Both cardiologists and radiographers have begun using the floor-mounted systems, which allow for more efficient workflow and superior image quality, Medical News Today reports.
"This is an improved system with superb image quality, which has vastly improved patient throughput," stated Sara Riddell, superintendent radiographer at the hospital.
James Weir, manager at Siemens Healthcare - which supplied the technology - added that the firm is "delighted" that the Artis zee units have received a warm welcome from medical professionals.
Last month, it was revealed that a virtual reality heart has been developed by scientists at Glassworks in collaboration with University College Hospital London for use in medical training and research.
