Speech therapists involved in schools project

People with speech therapy jobs have been among a group of professionals involved in the implementation of a new scheme for children.
Following the closure of a speech and language unit building at Lever Edge Primary in Bolton last year, the local authority began educating youngsters who used the centre in mainstream classes.
The children involved, each of whom has speech and language difficulties, spend four or five terms at specialist classes, the Bolton News reports.
In addition, a new service is being planned which would see youngsters receive speech therapy sessions after their education.
Meanwhile, a flagship children's facility offering speech and language therapy has recently opened in Tendringm, the Gazette reported.
According to the publication, the Windmill Children's Centre cost £1 million and was funded by the government.
Plans are also underway to explore the possibility of opening up other services at the centre, such as midwifery.
