The work of two biomedical scientists on autoimmune diseases recently received acclaim.
Emeritus Professor Sir Ravinder Maini and Professor Marc Feldmann were presented with the Dr Paul Janssen Award for Biomedical Research during a ceremony in Belgium.
The researchers were selected for the award, which came with a prize of $100,000 (£53,921), by a committee comprising Nobel Laureates and other world-renowned scientists.
Earlier in the week, Professors Feldmann and Maini received recognition during two related events, including an invitation-only gala reception, which took place in New York.
Commenting on the work of the two men, Sir Roy Anderson, Rector of Imperial College, said: "Millions of people across the world now have a vastly improved quality of life thanks to the dedication of Marc and Ravinder."
He went on to offer them his "warmest congratulations".
Founded in 1907, Imperial College has more than 12,000 full-time students from over 123 countries across the globe.
