Immigration proposals to improve job opportunities for UK doctors?

Opportunities for those with particular types of UK medical jobs could increase after new plans to limit the work of non-EU doctors.
The Home Office's migration advisory committee (MAC) has said that non-European doctors should not be able to become paid GPs in Britain.
It also said they should be prevented from working in hospitals except as consultants for particular fields.
According to the MAC, this is indicative of the increase in training programmes for doctors and nurses within the UK.
It said there is not a general nurse shortage, although demand remains for more specialist roles such as operating theatre nurses.
MAC figures show that virtually all medical and dental practitioners are skilled and have degree-level entry qualifications.
It had received evidence that some newly qualified doctors were not getting NHS jobs, which it said appeared "to indicate a surplus at that level".
Not all graduates were found to gain employment in the short-term, leading to concern about there being an "oversupply".
