Knowsley NHS number one for cancer spending

Knowsley borough is the biggest spender on cancer care, a new report has found.
Its expenditure amounts to £118 per head of the population, according to the King's Fund report, covered by the Liverpool Daily Post.
This is two-and-a-half times as much as Ealing, west London.
Liverpool spends £74 per head on cancer care, while the figures for Sefton and Wirral are £81 and £73 respectively.
But report compiler Professor John Appleby, chief economist at the King's Fund, said there is still discrepancy in how much primary care trusts spend on particular ailments.
Dr Diana Forrest, director of public health for Knowsley, said that although deaths from cancer in the area have fallen over the past few years, the region still has higher than average rates for the disease.
