More podiatrists recruited to make up for Norfolk shortfall

The NHS Yarmouth and Waveney Trust is working to recruit more podiatrists to make up for an apparent shortfall in the number of foot specialists in the area.
EDP24 reports that diabetes sufferers in the Norfolk area have been suffering from the podiatrist shortage, which has led to long waiting lists for appointments.
However, last week, Nick Wright, the man in charge of podiatry at NHS Yarmouth and Waveney, said that steps are being taken to cut down on the waiting times and that his organisation has opened up a number of podiatry job opportunities.
He claimed that three people are set to start work today, with a further two on the way in the near future.
"This will increase the force of the team by a third," he remarked.
According to the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, demand for foot specialists is growing due to the UK's ageing population.
