North-west pharmacists involved in hygiene campaign

Pharmacists in the north-west of England are among those involved in a hygiene campaign, it has emerged.
According to a report in the Wirral News, Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT) is encouraging medical professionals in the area to wash their hands.
The initiative, which has already begun, is being highlighted to a range of people with UK medical jobs, including GPs and pharmacists.
Leaflets, posters and stickers are being used to encourage patients to feel comfortable to ask healthcare workers if they have cleaned their hands.
"Patients have a role to play as well as we would like them to have the confidence to question health workers if they believe their hands have not been thoroughly cleaned," stated Julie Saron, campaign co-ordinator at Wirral PCT.
Wirral PCT has responsibility over a range of services, including pharmacies, hospitals, dentists and opticians, as well as NHS walk-in centres, patient transport and population screening.
