Pharmacists to get help from robots

In news which may be of interest to people seeking pharmacy jobs in the UK, workers in two medical centres are to be assisted by robots.
According to reports in the Lancashire Evening Post, staff at pharmacies in the Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble hospitals are to be aided by machines as part of a new initiative.
Bosses at the hospitals have launched the systems in order to improve the accuracy of the dispensing process, reduce wastage, improve stock control and provide a quicker supply of medicines to patients.
"No staff are being replaced, we are changing the way we work with pharmacy employees spending more time on the wards to advise and provide assistance," stated Rob Yates of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Meanwhile, a recent YouGov survey revealed that pharmacists in Scotland are increasingly being seen by patients as a source of health advice, with 81 per cent of people surveyed reporting they would question such professionals over medical issues, the Pharma Times reported.
