Refer an Hospital Doctor
Thursday 21st August 2008
A new scheme is being run by a north-west hospital in an effort to free up hospital beds, it has been revealed.
In news likely to impact on people with hospital doctor jobs, the Countess of Chester Hospital - a provider of acute hospital services which is located south of the River Mersey - is releasing patients more quickly after operations and providing them with a follow-up home service.
Under the initiative, patients can undergo physiotherapy and occupational therapy at home, and can receive help with the preparation of meals and getting dressed, the Liverpool Daily Post reports.
Commenting on the idea, Alison Swanton, clinical lead for therapy services at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: "This service not only benefits patients, who are in hospital for a shorter time, but it also frees up beds for the trust."
