Future of Scottish hospital unit secured

A troubled hospital unit in Scotland will be saved following the completion of an independent review, it has been revealed.
According to a BBC report, the Vale of Leven Hospital's unscheduled admissions unit - which is operated by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde - was due to close as a result of a shortage of anaesthetists.
However, a review team have decided that, while some emergencies will be transferred to Paisley or Glasgow, most patients will still be admitted to the unit, those with hospital doctor jobs may be interested to discover.
"This report clearly shows there are alternatives to closing the emergency unit which can retain vital services locally without compromising on patient safety," stated health secretary Nicola Sturgeon.
Another area identified as suffering from a shortage of medical personnel recently was Gloucestershire, where a lack of paramedics has seen the military, private companies and personnel from St John Ambulance drafted in to help provide health services.
