NHS "failing cancer patients"

Many cancer patients in Scotland feel isolated and disrespected by their NHS care, it has been reported.
The BBC reported findings by Stirling's Cancer Care Research Centre that while physical treatment is mostly satisfactory, many patients feel that symptom management and emotional and psychological issues are not properly addressed.
The study involved interviewing over 2,000 people affected by the disease over three years.
Professor of cancer care, Nora Kearney, said: "We are still failing people with cancer in Scotland" and said it was important to "treat the person as well as the disease".
A Homebase branch in Sunderland recently raised £2,752 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The Sunderland Echo reported how the store, in Silksworth, raised the money through such means as sports days, quizzes and participation in the charity's Great Daffodil Appeal.
Customers also bought Marie Curie bulbs, potted daffodils and trolley key rings.
The charity's partnership across the UK has raised £1.55 million.
