Pharmaceutical firm's headcount up 3.8%

Pharmaceutical firm Boehringer Ingelheim has posted strong growth in local currencies in the first half of the year, with the positive results boosting recruitment activity.
The company announced that overall growth experienced in the six-month period allowed for new jobs to be created.
As such, personnel capacity at the pharmaceutical company increased by 1,468 since the same period in 2007, representing a 3.8 per cent increase and taking the organisation's total headcount to 39,819.
Due to the strength of the euro against the Japanese yen and the US dollar, growth after consolidation in euro stood at 2.1 per cent for the period, with net sales standing at €5,522 million (£4,349 million).
For Dr Alessandro Banchi, chairman of the board of managing directors, said: "We posted excellent growth in all countries.
"Business development in the first half of 2008 showed, that Boehringer Ingelheim remains on a healthy growth path and the company continues to outpace the pharma market."
The firm states that a single phrase sums up its corporate vision: value through innovation.
