Register as an Dietitian
Wednesday 6th August 2008
The opening of a new mental health unit in the West Yorkshire town of Wakefield has led to the creation of a range of medical jobs.
Created out of four vacant buildings, the Bretton Centre is said to have resulted in the enlargement of the clinical team.
According to reports in the Huddersfield Examiner, an additional consultant psychiatrist has been recruited, along with 30 more nurses.
There has also been an increase in the number of dietician jobs, occupational therapy and physiotherapy jobs at the facility.
Costing £8 million, the centre was created as part of a project to move services from St Luke's Hospital at Crosland Moor.
Commenting on the new unit, Steven Michael, chief executive of the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust, said: "The facility not only provides an enhanced service to the people of Kirklees and Calderdale but also the Wakefield district."
In other news, a recent BBC report revealed that an urgent care and treatment unit run by the Western Health Trust in the Northern Irish town of Omagh is struggling to find staff.
