A shortage of paramedics has been reported in Gloucestershire, those with UK medical jobs may be interested to hear.
In order to combat the lack of staff, the military, private companies and personnel from St John Ambulance - a first aid charity with around 44,000 volunteers - have been drafted in.
According to reports, the Great Western Ambulance Trust is only meeting its target call out time of eight minutes in 50 to 60 per cent of cases.
Meanwhile, firefighters in the area have complained that the unreliable nature of ambulance services is causing them to have to carry out first aid at road traffic accidents.
Commenting on the initiative to draft in external personnel, Steve West, director of operations at the trust said: "This project comes at a time when all ambulance trusts are under huge demand pressures and the additional staff from the military will greatly assist our staff in meeting the increasing demands on their time."
