Healthcare Scientist required for a 6 week contract in London. . Band 5 Healthcare Scientist needed for a 6 week contract, working in a Virus Reference department in the London area. You will be working full time hours in a friendly environment, paying £18-£21 per hour.
This successful Healthcare Scientist will be providing laboratory support for antiviral susceptibility surveillance of influenza viruses in clinical samples and cultured isolates. Also including support for the development and implementation of genotypic snp detection assays
Duties and Requirements
-Nucleic acid extraction from a variety of clinical sample types.
-Performance of RT-PCR for surveillance of influenza viruses.
-Use of automated extraction and liquid handling robots.
-Adhering to external and internal quality control procedures.
-Attend meetings, plan and implement project plans.
This role requires a BSc. in a biological science, along with good professional competence, clear understanding of lab safety requirements and procedures.
