Speech and Language Therapist required for a part time role in an exceptional London Hospital. . Mediplacements are currently recruiting a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist/ Pathologist to work on a part time basis within the multi disciplinary team of an exceptional Private Hospital in the London area. The successful Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist/Pathologist will be required for a years fixed term contract, on a part time basis.

You should be a HPC registered Speech and Language Therapist with paediatric speech and language skills and have experience of working with children who have cochlear implants and hearing impaired adults. The ability to use sign language at stage 1 or above is essential for this role.
Working closely with other members of the other Cochlear Implant team, ENT surgeons, Audiological scientists and off site teachers of the deaf. You will be responsible for ongoing rehabilitation and monitoring of paediatric case load and contributing to the assessment process to determine candidacy for implantation of children and adults. You will also provide advice and training to local services.
The Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist duties will include
-Initial consultations, Pre CI communication assessments and on-going therapy visits after surgery.
-Communicating and liaising with other therapists/professionals involved with the child, attend School visits.
-Speech perception testing for children and adults
-Prepare rehabilitation exercises for adults
-Prepare take home goals and activities for children
-Good counselling skills with families re: appropriate expectations for progress immediately after switch on or anytime
-Basic equipment knowledge and trouble shooting
-Report writing
-Recognise other medical issues or concerns and refer as appropriate.
